Just 2 members of Richard’s Trampoline Club represented the club at the National Grade 1 competition on Sunday 21 May in Harrow.  Whilst fellow teammate had the honour of represented Great Britain, at the European Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) competition, over in Metz, France.

Elliot Stratton was hoping to qualify for the National Championships in July.  To do this he needed to reach the qualifying mark on both of his routines.  He had problems during his compulsory set routine, so missed the qualifying mark here by just 0.3.  However he then went onto successfully complete a good voluntary routine, using his highest difficulty level yet at national level.  He easily reached the qualifying mark here and finished in 3rd place.  A fantastic achievement being his first year at Grade 1, and already he’s firmly secured his place at this level next year.

For Lauren Jones this was her first time at Grade 1, having qualified just a couple of weeks ago.  Lauren was competing at Grade 3 back in January, so she’s made astonishing progress this year.  However she was very cautious and reduced her height considerably, this greatly affected the shaping and kick outs on her somersaults.  As a result her marks were below what she’s capable of, but she scored enough to remain at Grade 1 next year so a great achievement in its self.

Meanwhile at the Europeans, Michael Dodson was representing Great Britain for DMT individually and in the junior team event.  He completed a good first pass, but on his second pass he was on the wrong leg at take off so scored 0.  This greatly affected his overall score so he didn’t make it through to the final.  In the team event Michael did very well, but someone else in the team scored 0 so this had a big impact on their overall score.  A fantastic opportunity though for Michael, increasing his International experience considerably.
