Elliot Stratton produced a fine series of routines to finish 5th in his first Grade 1 trampolining competition recently in Hull.  The Grade 1 elite circuit draws the best gymnasts from all over Britain.  Although the very best were jumping in a separate competition for places in the British team for the European championships, Elliotís under 19 event still contained some top class performers.  Lying 7th after a sound compulsory routine, Elliot improved his position with a good voluntary round.  The opening three double somersaults were better still in his final round and although he wandered from the middle in the later stages his overall performance was very creditable.  Indeed he achieved a score that allows him to compete at this level for at least the next two years, meaning he can concentrate on the development of harder routines without the pressure of seeking further qualifying scores.

Elliotís team mate, Michael Dodson who had been short of training after bouts of illness, will, however, have to try again after his efforts came to an abrupt halt when he landed on the edge of the trampoline half way through his second routine.  He will be hoping for a better result at the next competition this weekend in Southend.
